Hey everybody,

I'm currently a junior mechanical engineering student with a 2.82 gpa. I'd really like to get an internship during this coming summer before I graduate, but with it being low haven't had any luck at my universities career fair.

Is my only chance to apply for positions online?

What else could I be doing besides raising my gpa? I was thinking I should be calling companies and trying to talk to hiring managers, but I'm not sure if that's even possible or how effective it would be.

Thanks in advance.

Network. I know its a overused term, but if you know anyone (highschool, work, Family, ect) who could help you out, get in contact with them. Even with that said you are going to have a tough time. Have Do you have a well written resume? work experience? community involvement? school involvement?
Start proving yourself to professors. Make A’s on everything and speak in class (especially if he/ she asks a question and no one answers) If you are able to do this your professors may be able to help you out. Its a long shot, but with a low GPA most employers will throw delete/ throw away your application is 5 seconds.
