actually, I also got my highest score on the verbal section (a 600).

Does the vSAT have anything to do with engineering? I got a 380v/720m. Will there be a lot of reading assignments involved? I assume aerospace engineering would require a lot of problem solving.

lil_killer have you ever been checked for a reading disability? That is a huge discrepency and is a strong indicator of a LD. (200 points or more)

What is LD? No, I have never been checked for a reading disability, and I'm not an international student either. I'm happy I got into PSU Engineering.

LD= learning disability

There is a forum on CC about LD's. Check it out. I would be surprised if you don't have some kind of LD related to reading/comprehension. Professionals consider a 200 point discrepency in scores on tests such as the SAT to be a highly likely indicator of a learning disability. PSU, is that Penn State? If so, congratulations. They will have a department there for students with LD's where, if you are in fact diagnosed will offer you a great deal of support. Do you dislike reading? Do you have a hard time with comprehension? Does it take you a long time to read a book? Do you have difficulty finishing standardized timed tests?

I used to dislike reading a lot. Now I actually enjoy it. Yes, I have a hard time with comprehension, but it's getting a lot better. It takes me longer than normal to read a book. Usually I read different parts multiple times to understand it. No, I don't have difficulty finishing standardized timed tests.

You answered yes to enough of those questions that it would be worth it to look into testing. Many colleges have psychology departments that will do the testing for little or no money. Show them your SAT scores and the discrepency as a reason for wanting to test. Also the answers to the questions you just answered for me are enough alone to warrant testing. Good luck to you.

What are the tests like? How are they administered?

They are mostly written, oral and auditory tests. They are administered by a psychologist. Common tests could include the WAIS-III, (Wechsler Adult Intelligence) WIAT-II, (Wechsler Individual Achievement Test) Aggregrate Neurobehavioral Student Health and Educational Review-ANSER System, Clinical Review, Brown Attention Activation Disorder Scale (BAADS-2) Connors' Continuous Response Performance Test-II (CPT) Neslon Denny Reading Test. The tests given would be based on your answers to an overall review of individual symptoms and difficulties.

i got a 680 on the math1 and 790 on math2c but a 2 on calc bc(+ ab subscore) but now in college i'm doing very well in calc, so i don't think it means you'll struggle...

I had a very low SAT math score (for an engineering student at least ... it was around the 50% range), yet I am doing well in Calculus I (A). Didn't take Calculus in high school.
