Loyola Marymount University: School of Film and Television

Did anyone else apply here? I know it's one of the best around, although from what I hear it's just as hard as Chapman to get into. I applied for the screenwriting major as an undergraduate on 12/30/06, and still haven't heard back.

My friend is currently a First Year Screenwriting major at LMU, and he applied around the same time as you did. He did not get his response back until the end of March. They have 8,000 applicants on average every year, because most California rich kids look at it as a safety when compared to USC, and the like. That being said I still think its a great school, and the whole experience is really about what you put into it. On another note, I have had friends who got their decision within weeks of submitting their applications. I guess it depends on which school you are applying to, and how many applicants are going out for your major. I'm Poli Sci, so I can imagine my rejection/acceptance letter won't be coming for a while either.

Also, did you get a note saying that they got all of your paperwork? If not you may want to call the school, and see what the status is of your application.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for replying,

and yes they did send me a confirmation note already.

My son also applied to LMU School of Film/TV--submitted app around 1/12. He's been accepted w/scholarship to Chapman Film Prod. but is still interested in LMU. One of his friends, who applied back in November in Business, heard at least a month ago that he was accepted.

Im in to Bellarmine(LMU's Liberal Arts college)--It takes atleast six weeks to hear back from them.

I applied to LMU Film Production at the end of December and I just got accepted last week. So about 6 weeks to get my answer.

how were you notified?

We just found out today my son was accepted to Film/TV...letter was sent out yesterday. He applied 1/12.

I got a very nice letter in a 9X12 envelope. LMU was originally not my first choice, but it has a great reputation, and I want to study filmmaking, so I am very happy!

I applied on November 2nd for LMU's School for Film and Television for their Screenwriting major and still haven't heard back from them, even though they just sent me the little note saying that my application was completed about a week and a half ago, saying that the committee will be making a final decision shortly. Is it unusual that it is taking so long to process my application? I know my slack guidance counselor didn't send off my mid year transcripts till about three to four weeks ago (hence, the letter only a week and a half ago) but jeez..... This is taking forever. I wonder if such a wait means that I got rejected or if it's because they had to have the mid-year transcript to make a verdict?

They were probably waiting for your mid-year grades and since your counselor was slack it probably arrived with everyone else who applied near the deadline. Good luck!

I wonder if my stats are good enough to get in. My SATs were 2010 with a 760 Writing and a 700 Critical Reading, although the Math was only 550, but all in all, well above their average. My essay was outstanding and my recommendations were as well. The only kicker might be my 3.5 GPA Unweighted, but I still have my fingers crossed. Chappa, what were your stats like?

main, your stats are better than mine. it depends on how good your essays were. anyone can think they are amazing, but you never know what the admissions team will think.... good luck though im in the same boat

Main-the math is a little low but your stats should still be good enough...the combined of over 2000 will help you out.

I was accepted to their Liberal Arts college too...I'm going down to visit over spring break and crossing my fingers for UCLA, though LMU is looking pretty good, too!

Still no word, but hopefully sometime soon...

They told me I probably wouldnt hear until April, though I applied in November. Damn film school selectivity.

I'm in the same boat. Applied 11/02 and still no word from them. I applied to the Screenwriting program, what about you?

production

Still haven't heard anything official... anybody else?

same. and id probably pick LMU over Chapman just because of the better community... ill probably end up at NYU either way though
