Is the experimental section of the LSAT present at the same point in the exam for everybody, or does it differ? I took today's LSAT, and the experimental section ( logic games ) was either section 1 or 5. Section 1 was really easy, however section 5 seemed totally new and difficult to me. I was hoping that section 5 was the experimental section, since it killed me, however some friends said that their experimental section occured in the first 3 sections.

Hi Coffee Addict! My d took the LSAT today too.
Lately I have been spending some time on another site a little more geared to law school admissions etc! I haven't been able to get back on that site since about mid afternoon - it may have to do with heavy volumn because of the test today.
Anyway the concensus of the bloggers was that it was the 1st section.--but is it possible that some people had the same questions at a later sequence??? I can't answer that.
My d was happy to hear that the majority of kids thought it was the first section, as she too found it more difficult than the other one.

Anyway- the site is www.lawschooldiscussion.org go to the pre-law board and check out the LSAT blogs. All the kids chime in and dissect the test. I am not too sure if my d is going to go to the site- She's the type that just may wait for her score to come in the mail.
Good luck!!

It's still down. I have a feeling they may not have wanted discussion so soon after the test so they may have "disabled it"- but that is just a hunch on my part. It could also be down due to volumn- that is certainly a possibility too. I have never had trouble getting on the site before today. Once the site is again operational-- go to the "pre- law" board and it will direct you to different discussion areas. You probably want to check out the LSAT discussion boards- but I haven't been able to get on since mid afternoon. Be patient!!
Actually you gotta go to Pre Law Discussions (not Pre Law Blogs)
But the discussions are still down. Once it's back up I'll try to direct you better if you can't find it- but it aint working now.
Nsped you got until February so don't worry about it. My guess is that the site will be fully operational in the next day or so!!

My d definitely avoids these boards. I'm the one that checks it out and I only pass on the necessary info. She might check out the other site- but I am not forwarding the info to her until Monday. She didn't even want to think about the test until after the week-end. My hope is that she is out now with friends.

I think it probably was the first section. According to the powerscore website, every experimental section since 1995 has been in the first 3 sections. That's strange though, because I found the games in the first section to be really easy. They were just like what I have been doing on practice exams. It was the fifth section that I found difficult. Maybe Law Services is mixing it up to confuse us.

Anyhow, I'm probably going to cancel my score anyway. Today was just a bad day for me all around.

OK-- should I tell you- It's back up--
Hit Pre-law discussion (you should see the arrow pointing up)
and Hit the area "studying for LSAT"

Coffee Addict- you may want to follow the discussions for the next day or two before you decide whether to cancel. You really may have done better than you thought!!
Good luck
Marny
Oops i It may be Pre-Law Board (you'll see the arrow pointing up)
and then studying for LSAT

Kaplan claims to know which section is experimental on every LSAT test by taking many exit polls. They have released this information in the past through the media, which includes their podcast.

Everything I've heard says experimental was the 1st section (I made a very quick visit to other discussion forums to see what people thought, but was careful not to stay long or read much b/c they tend to just stress me out...can't say I recommend visiting)!

OK Coffee Addict. The website that I mentioned had a Report on the December 2006 LSAT (from Princeton Review). In the summary it states (quote)
"...the experimental section appeared in section 1. Be aware, however that LSAC often administers a few selected forms with identical scored sections, but with their experimental sections in a DIFFERENT LOCATION."
so I think that it is possible that YOUR experimental section Could Have been in a later section of your exam booklet.
I do think that OVERREADING ALL THESE COMMENTS ON DIFFERENT WEBSITES CAN BE (OOPS! CAPS) too much. But you do get some good info and it might be worthwhile if you read it infrequently and don't take info too seriously.

As I said- I am glad that I filter this info for my own kid so she doesn't get nuts reading all the comments. But I'll admit I have gotten useful info from the site.
