LSU v Tulane v SMU

I've narrowed it down to these 3 but I'm still not sure. Just before you say something cliche I know I would be happy at all of these, maybe more at one but I don't really think I would be able to tell until I enrolled.

Anyways, I'm almost positive I want to go into chemical or mechanical engineering. Possibly electrical. Does anyone know which of these schools has better job opps or hands on experience? I know SMU has some opportunities to work for a year and graduate with a masters in 5. And I know tulane only has biomed and chem. Also which would have more prestige going into a graduate school?

Thanks, undecided.

Well if you want chem OR mech, then don't go to Tulane I would say. If you do chem and decide you don't like it, then decide to do mech, you will be screwed, so if I were you, I would try the other two.

Thats true. I guess I shouldn't get locked in. What about networking or postgrad? Does either really have an advantage? I'm sure they both have them in their local areas(notably dallas), but what about elsewhere? Any suggestsion?

I would eliminate Tulane from your list immediately.
It seems that you are unsure of whether you would like to pursue chemical, mechanical or electrical engineer. To be a professional engineer, it would be the best if you attended a ABET accredited (group that certifies engineering programs) program. Tulane currently only has accredited programs in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, nothing for electrical or mechanical.

I would also eliminate SMU for the same reasons. SMU has accredited programs in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering but nothing for chemical.

If you want to give yourself the most options if you change your mind during the 1st or 2nd year of college, go to LSU for engineering which has accredited programs in all 3 fields of engineering.

Here's the list of accredited programs: http://abet.org/schoolalleac.asp
