Luck of the Irish?

Hello all brief question hoping someone will know the answer. My brother attends school in Ireland and is currently en route to become a doctor. I was wondering if the admissions committee for his school might give me special consideration seeing as they know who my brother is.... My scores aren't as good as his but I took more science AP's and passed than he has which is what i think they look for. My EC's are also a lot better and show more dedication than his

Also, I have already visited Ireland and with my brother already assimilated to Ireland, I would have no trouble. Maybe the admissions people will consider this? Since being a student who is completely new to the Irish system and would have to learn everything from scratch would obviously be inconvenient.

Is this in the wrong forum?

the answer is that no it won’t help you

SO you are asking the college to select you over someone who has better grades than you and who has worked harder than you, because you are the brother of someone who did work hard enough to get in?

Am I getting that right?

No, I have definitely worked a WHOLE lot harder than my brother, just that my SATs aren’t as good. But I did take more science AP’s (which I’m pretty sure the Irish commissions wanted more of; my brother had only taken 1 and was taking another his senior year, whereas I have taken and passed 2 AP science tests already and am going to be taking another this year). Maybe I worded the question wrong at first so I’ll reiterate, if it came down to someone whose resume is comparable to mine and me, would the Irish committee pick me?

Okay, I seriously doubt they will take your brother’s existence into consideration, but you never know…

I honestly depends on how much they like your brother. I got into a college because my wife went there and she is very friendly. When I applied it was merely a formality.

Biologyguy- i didnt mean to come off as lazy and manipulative lol, here are my stats (you dont have to chance me) http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1178445-ill-chance-back.html

You seem fine to me - no reason why you wouldn’t get in. I’d admit you to my course. I can only really tell you this - in our course, which is pretty small, knowing your brother may make us think kindly towards you, but you’d have to get in or not based on your own performance. We don’t really worry about how long it will take students to settle in (and we’re in the rather more exotic locale of Japan. I certainly didn’t mean to suggest you are lazy.

What is your program?

I work on a program called Global 30, at Tsukuba University in Japan. It is a program aimed at internationalizing Japanese universities, by increasing the number of degree programs taught entirely in English. Our course is very much aimed at foreigners. We have quite a good fees structure in place - first year free, then domestic fees for international students (about $6,000 a year, for 3 years), fees waivers, scholarships, the whole thing. We have numerous degrees, but my own is biology.
