M.D/ M.M or M.D/ D. M

Are there any programs out there available for students to pursue a join medical and music degree? Maybe an MD and a masters of doctorate of music? If there isn’t already a joint degree, is it possible to study both? If so, how would it be possible?

Thanks!

As far as I know MD degree in med schools is a full time “job”. There are no combined degree for MD other than a related public health master to be earned in the summer.

you can have an MD/PHD (8 years) , MD/MPH (6 years), MD/MBA (5 years) , or an MD/JD (7 years). never heard of an MD/MM

I can’t imagine how you would do both MD and Music major. I’m familiar with the time commitment for both…and I just can’t see it happening.

The ensemble requirements for music majors alone would be a challenge to mesh with medical school.

PLUS what medical school would allow this dual major? That would be…none.

I will add, once practicing physicians, we know a bunch of doctors who play in civic orchestras or sing in local choirs.

It looks like you are still in high school. You are really putting the cart before the horse if that is the case.

What would be the point of this training? If you want to be a physician that specializes in treating musicians or singers, you don’t need a graduate level music degree for that.
