MA in Political Science

Hi there! Are there any good (preferably Ivy League, but must be East Coast based, except for USC) one-year MA programs out there?

I'm only a sophomore at the Sorbonne (B+ average, several semesters will be spent studying abroad by graduation, I speak four languages, etc.,) double-majoring in Economics and History and I have a long way to go (at least 3 years) before I apply but I like to know what my options are.

I would ideally aim for IR programs (SAIS and Yale) where I think I could perform better given my passion for foreign affairs and my languages proficiency but since I'm looking to work for the French Foreign Ministry, I think a Poli Sci degree, as long as I'm graduating from a reputable US school should do the trick.

Poli Sci MAs are supposedly cheaper, easier to get into (as some Ivy League degrees aren't that reputable, which is fine to me since the brand matters almost more than the quality of the education in France) so if you could throw in some good ideas, that would be wonderful! Thank you.

bump please? Anyone?

Sorry zules01 - there aren't very many 1 year MA programs on the East Coast that I can think of - lots of 2 year programs... University of Chicago has a 1 year program, but that violates your geographic constraint...

Look into the CIR MA program at the University of Chicago. I believe it is only one year.

OK fine, nevermind my geographic constraint :). I talked to a CIR lady in person this summer, and she specified that the degree is really oriented towards political science but said I had a decent shot if I scored high on my quant GRE.

I'm just afraid that the University of Chicago doesn't carry such a hreat reputation back home and that my $40,000 investment turns out to be useless. Basically, it's "all" I can afford and non-funded two-year programs are just too expensive for me... Ouch. Help? Please?

Then why can't you look for a funded two-year program?

What about the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton (its an MPA but close enough). Most of their students have close to full rides.

I know. But I think I think my best bet is to apply to Sciences Po, which has an amazing program with SIPA and students get to graduate from both schools and pay the equivalent to a one-year tuition.
