I need to get a new laptop. I love PCs and am a PC gamer, and I know I will be very happy with the HP because of all the bonuses it has to offer and specs that trump the macs, I.e. processor, graphics card, resolution, memory, etc. But on the flipside, EVERYBODY has a Mac and they all seem to love it. Plus the lion os software is coming out soon and looks pretty cool. Bottom line, I need help to decide which one to get and which will be better for school. Things to consider are that I intend to study law, am a gamer, film short videos with my friends, will need something fast and reliable, and most importantly, won't frustrate the hell out of me. Please help!

As far as Fordham goes, you can use a Mac or a PC. With a PC you do have to put on an anti-virus program to get onto the school’s system, but it is not a problem. My S wanted a computer with gaming capabilities so he got a PC for college (did not even consider a Mac). Look at what you want in a computer and buy whatever matches your needs best.

Thank you. Actually quite helpful

My S had numerous problems with his brand new Dell bc of Fordham’s anti-virus program and frequently needed to get IT work tickets. He is at LC and we ended up getting him a Mac 2nd semester and giving the Dell to his younger brother who also needed a computer. He has had no problems and is much happier with the Mac. He did NOT want a Mac before he left for school but once he got there…different story. And you are right almost everyone (at least at LC) has a Mac and loves it.

He does know a few people who stuck with their PC and did not have the problems that he had. So hopefully if you go that route you won’t be as unlucky as my S!

Thanks a bunch! Something to consider for myself I gurss
