Mac or PC at Penn???

Which one should I get? Talking about laptops.

MAC
hands down
Waaay more user-friendly, no blue screens of death (instead you get a nice, comforting spinning beach ball of doom… but rainbow coloured!!), no stupid “Windows needs your authorization to continue…”…etc, etc.

It’s design is absolutely impeccable.
Trust me, the price is worth it. (I have a 15" MacBook Pro, and love it to death.)

There’s a reason why apple-holics are much more vocal and numerous than windows-holics. :)

Doesn’t matter… whatever you prefer. Most people (students and teachers) own macs here. If you have one or the other, both types of machines are VERY easily accessible. Also heads up you can partition a mac to run both windows and snowleopard.

LINUX FTW!

Speaking as an IT support person here at Penn, you’re wrong.

Again, wrong.

Not really.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter what you go with. I’ve had to fix too many computers on either side. Do note, though, that the quality of PC hardware wise varies greatly from brand to brand.

I am interested in knowing if any linux user groups are there.

They can be hard to find but you will find plenty if you look. Hell, there’s *a class taught *on basics and usage of linux taught by a good friend of mine.
