what does the operating system have to do with build quality of your laptop?

Acer put microsoft's sticker on their laptops. They publicly advertise that they use microsoft software. By extension, the trouble the operating system gave me reflects upon Acer, not that their computers were that well-built anyway. They made a business decision to put licenses of Windows on their laptops. They could have very well developed their own system in-house and put it on their computers. Thus, if windows gives me trouble, that reflects badly upon both the manufacturer of the computer itself and microsoft. My (former) school's tech department had so much trouble with those computers that they dropped Acer for Dell.

Sure, it's not the manufacturer's fault that microsoft can't get it right, but those computer manufacturers made a business decision to put windows, a microsoft product, on their computers, knowing full well that many, many people have complained both to Microsoft and them about the operating system. Just like people get *ed off at the airlines for TSA's stupidity, people will get *ed off at manufacturers for Microsoft's stupidity. Airlines (and airports) can tell TSA to go to hell just as manufacturers can easily develop their own operating systems.

The point is, it's just a computer, get what you want.

And let me ask you, the fact that Windows went blue screen of death and wiped out all my data at least two dozen times doesn't reflect badly upon microsoft? What?

By the way, the association works reciprocally. If a computer with windows on it is poorly built, that reflects badly upon microsoft as well. Microsoft had the discretion to make their own hardware in-house and to not license the software out to anyone (Apple did precisely that).

You must be kidding. That's literally next to impossible. They could use Windows or some form of Linux. The plausible options pretty much end there. Any major hardware company who would even attempt to do what you're suggesting would likely immediately go out of business.

Sorry, but this reasoning makes no sense. Your logic is that for any person/thing that uses any item, any failures of that item are the owner's fault, as they could have built their own.
