trust me, they dont tell you theres a gap i ntheir warranty regarding if it covers software or hardware. I would have bought it if they told me

Macs got a bit cheaper last week. A MacBook Pro and Dell XPS similarly equipped were $1,399 and $1,304, respectively. See [Reassessing the ‘Apple Tax’ | Laptop | Macworld](<a href=“Reassessing the 'Apple Tax' | Macworld”>Reassessing the 'Apple Tax' | Macworld).

don’t get a dell! i used a latitude for 8 months and it didn’t treat me well at all - its hard drive failed twice, battery failed twice and the charger failed once. to top that their customer service was horrendous. if you really want to buy a pc try another brand, but since i’m a mac person now i don’t know what to suggest. the mac i’ve been using for for around a year did not create any problems for me though (knock on wood!)

nysmile was there a special deal going on that you got such a good bargain?

All I did was go to the Dell site and they were having a bit of a promotion at the time. I think it was around a $200 discount plus a free $100 Dell gift card to use later.

Actually, I just went on their website and they are having a sale today until 6/23. He upped the processor to the 8600. He also got a 320 HD with 7200rpm, and the 256 Radeon video card, the backlit keyboard, and bluetooth as additional upgrades. After the fact, we called Dell to see if he could upgrade to the 2yr. Complete Care Warranty and they did the paperwork on the phone (another $99 upgrade to the 2yr. in home repair warranty–didn’t want the additional Lowjack service).

I use a MacBook–(white plastic version). Son prefers Windows based laptops. His new Studio 15 seems to run quite a bit cooler than my MacBook even though his specs are higher.

Macbooks do tend to run a bit hotter, and Apple hasn’t managed to fix this completely. The metal body doesn’t help that much either.

My UMBP definitely runs cooler than the plastic MB I used to use.

I would suggest going to an apple retail store and go play with the macbooks for a while since you are already familiar with windows. We can only give you so much advice but in the end, it is up to you to pick which one you like since money isn’t much of a factor here.

defiantly buy it

buy it the macbook its the best

This is an old thread!
