I am going to be a freshman next year at CMU prob doing ECE. what computer should i be getting.

If you’re going to be an ECE major, I’m sure you could handle whatever is thrown at you on either a mac or PC. Personal preference should decide.

Preference should be strong. You might want to use some things like matlab, or other specialized programs which might be harder to find for Mac.

Definitely go for the mac. With a mac you can have both OS X and Windows. And of course, you would much rather be seen with the design of a macbook, right? Matlab is available on OS X as well.

Should note that Windows doesn’t run well on new macbooks. Obviously Apple still uses specialized hardware, and won’t spend time writing Windows drivers…

I believe that Parallels works just fine. Boot camp takes far too long to reboot etc etc. As again, personal preference. I have just been hooked on to the mac side.

ya i was thinking just go with my perosnal preferance and since i have been using a mac for a while i want to stick with it
