I’ve wrote one essay for Macaulay and now I’m onto brainstorming the second, however, I’m torn. One school I’m applying to with Macaulay also has general admission essays. We can choose our topic, which is great, but I was wondering if I can recycle one of my Macaulay essays to use for general admission at that school? It’s the same prompt. I would do it, but I’m worried. I don’t want admissions to think I’m lazy?? It’s one of the harder CUNYs to get into, and I really don’t want to create that impression. I’m very on the fence about it… hmm what do you think??

There are chances they might see it, chances they might not. I applied to macaulay through baruch and used one of my essays from macaulay for baruch scholars, but got accepted to macaulay for the upcoming fall. I would think it’s okay, since the macaulay admission people who read your essays are different from the general admission.

Use the same essay. I applied to Macaulay this past fall and did the same thing as the above poster. I wound up getting into my Macaulay 1st choice(Hunter) and third choice(Lehman.) Most of the Macaulay schools only look at students who list them as their 1st choice. Macaulay has a different admissions staff than general admissions so you will be fine

Thanks for the feedback! I ended up writing a different essay about Hurricane Sandy. I am planning to have my tutor read them at the end of the month so they should both turn out to be good! If anything I will take your advice, thank you!
