MACAULAY HONORS COLLEGE AND SOPHIE DAVIS CHANCES?

Hi I am a rising senior and I would really appreciate if someone could rank me and tell me if they think i would get accepted into Macaulay Honors College. At the moment my number one choice for my college would be Queens College. And please feel free to be completely honest and tell me if there is anything I can do to improve my chances of getting accepted. I know it is highly competitive but I have worked really hard throughout my high school years; My PSAT score estimated my SAT score to be a 1390 but I worked extremely hard to get it up to a 1930 so please feel free to give me any advice you think would be helpful. Also, do you think I have a good chance of getting accepted into Sophie Davis?
And I would like to go into Medical so if anyone has any recommendations that would be great as well.

GPA:
Unweighted: About a 90 I believe
Weighted: 94.6

I have worked at a summer research program for two summers and plan on doing my own independent research this summer.

I volunteer for a non-profit organization since the 6th grade.

I speak two langues very fluently and am studying Spanish and Arabic

@catsplease Thanks for reposting; you can see my comments on the previous post.

Sophie Davis is a very competitive program, but I’ve heard they are interested in high-achieving URMs.

SD’s median SAT CR+M was a 1310 last year, which you are right on target for, although their median GPA was a 96 (uw). They are also very into medical/science ECs, such as shadowing a doctor, science olympiad, etc.

Just like Macaulay, SD is a reach school as well.

I’m sorry I responded in the other post but I’ll continue here.

@catsplease Don’t worry :slight_smile:

@EIC2400 thanks for the info :slight_smile:
Also, I’m not sure if you saw my response to you in the other thread I had originally commented on

@catsplease Thanks!

I didn’t see your reply and it’s not listed in your posting history; do you mind reposting it?

@EIC2400 Sure!

Basically I said that I thought that when you submitted your applications they would see your weighted GPA which would make sense right since it would be unfair to the kids who took regular classes and got a higher GPA because they weren’t in advanced? Also, I did my research at a college and the first summer I researched in the Psychology department and the next summer I researched in the Chemistry department. Also, there are kids at my school who apparently got accepted into Macaulay Honors College and Sophie Davis with scores and GPA’s lower than mine throughout the years.

@catsplease The website specifically says your unweighted GPA, but they look at the courses on your transcript and obviously a 90 with 5 APs is worth more than a 95 with all regular courses. It’s an imperfect system, as what may be considered an honors course at one school won’t be considered an honors course at another.

The research is a big deal – focus on it in your apps and get letters about them!

Check the last part with your CGC. I know of a student from my school with a 1400 CR+M who didn’t get in Macaulay and I know someone who graduated a couple of years ago who got rejected from Sophie Davis with a 1520 SAT. SD cares a lot about your NYS math and science Regents. ECs and essays are very important as well.

The website for MHC states that a 1250 CR+M and 90 uw-gpa are prerequisites to applying. The one student from my school who got in Queens-Macaulay this year had a 1480 CR+M and 94 GPA .
