MACAULAY HONORS COLLEGE CLASS OF 2023

I have emailed and called the admissions representatives of both Brooklyn and Hunter and have not received a response…anyone else in the same boat?

Got into hunter Macaulay! ? Gl to everyone in the process and future decisions

@ny_mom3 I have responded to your inquiry by e-mail. Please feel free to follow up with me if you have any additional questions.

@ricekrissie Congratulations! Did you receive your acceptance on March 15?

@CParker My son will be applying to colleges in the fall and Macaulay will be the first choice. What are the requirements to get into the program as well as what do you base your decision when you see 2 applicants with same grades, scores, etc?

@janekom I’m happy that your son will be applying to the Macaulay Honors College. Just to clarify, he will be able to select six City University of New York (CUNY) campuses for general admission (out of all two and four year undergraduate campuses), but only two for Macaulay admission (out of the 8 participating senior campuses). Although you need to be a top student to get admitted to Macaulay, grades and test scores alone are not the only factors, as you surely know from your question.

To answer your question, we look at each student holistically and consider: the strength of the recommendation letters, the thought and effort put into answering the essay questions, the depth and dedication to experiences beyond the classroom (i.e. extracurricular activities, internships, community service), and the level of interest and determination for attaining admission to Macaulay, among other holistic factors.

When we talk about the Macaulay experience, we are invoking something very special. We take great care to select students that will add to each other’s experiences. We want your son to be able to learn and grow from the knowledge, background, and experiences of the other Macaulay students, and vice-versa. We want your son to be able to add to those same categories for the other students.

This is why these decisions are so difficult. There are so many amazing students applying to Macaulay, and the campus level honors programs - these programs are also fantastic and worth considering - but we unfortunately are unable to accept them all.

If you and your son have not done so already, I recommend that you sign up to attend one of the upcoming Macaulay information sessions:
https://macaulay.cuny.edu/event-category/admissions-events/

In addition, I recommend attending an information session and/or campus tour of the campus(es) for which your son has expressed interest.

If you are interested in City College, you can sign up for a campus tour at:
https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/admissions/undergraduate-campus-tours

Our tours include a basic information session; however, if you would like a more in-depth information session led by a member of our senior Admissions staff, you can sign up at:

Please don’t hesitate to contact me privately if you have any detailed questions that you are not comfortable posting on College Confidential.

For people who got into Macaulay, did ur CUNY first or school’s portal mention anything about it? I got into Baruch Macaulay and accepted Baruch but I don’t see anything about Macaulay. I’m just wondering if I’m automatically already in the Macaulay program or if I need to confirm it somewhere.

I got into Macually Baruch. Stats: 4.0 GPA, 1340 SAT, ok recommendation. Good essay, A LOT of extracurriculars

a little late here but just committed!! I paid my deposit for Macaulay, but do I also have to accept the offer of admission at my campus?

My son was hoping for Baruch either Macaulay or honors, but didn’t get it.

Me too! What are you majoring in?

Who wants to make a GroupMe chat for Macaulay Honors since I do not see one for the class of 2023. I have been accepted to Macaulay for City College!
