Macaulay Honors Recommendations

My first question: the deadline for Macaulay Honors is December 1st. Do all my documents have to be in by that deadline, or just my application?

Secondly: can I just make a copy of my common application and other application recommendations and send it to them? Will they accept that? Because I have only a few weeks to send them in, and my teachers might take long to fill out the recommendations.

Please answer, this is very urgent.

BUMP. Please I need an answer ASAP.

Bumppppppppp

BUMP!! Why don’t people respond to this???

usually all the documents have to be in by the deadline, but you should check with the school to be sure.

People don’t reply because, like you, they don’t know the answer. Why should they if they aren’t even applying or familiar? Are we supposed to be your google slaves? Read the website, then email the admissions office.

no one’s supposed to be a google slave, but people could write exactly what we wrote. read the website, check with the school etc.

I’m sure as hell that the people here know, or have a hunch, about this question. Google slave? Isn’t the point of this forum to help others, WILLINGLY?

Anyway, does anyone else know if I can just make a copy of my other recs and mail them to Macaulay Honors?

All documents must be submitted by December 1st, including essays and recommendations.

If you are applying to hunter, call the honors college office. The staff is extremely nice (and awesome). You can fax over documents while on the phone, and being a day late won’t hurt as long as you’re in contact with them.

mrabia,

I just read your questions. I hope you have gotten answers directly from Macaulay Honors by this time. I know that ALL documents and materials were due 12/1 last year for my son.

He had started the process of getting scores and recommendations to Macaulay Honors by October 2009. However, we found the Admissions Office for Macaulay was highly disorganized and not very responsive. I ended up speaking to an Admissions officer several times to track missing material we knew were sent, e.g., recommendation letters and transcripts (other schools had received these materials with no problems).

It seemed the regular mail items and even fax items were not properly filed by Macaulay (even after reassurances by the Admissions officer I spoke to on behalf of my son). The only materials that were received without problem were the emailed information, e.g., emailed recommendations by teachers were received without any hitches. However, paper recommendations were found to be missing and had to be re-sent months later (some after the deadline), even though my son was fortunate enough to have teachers who sent letters out pretty much immediately (and confirmed received by other schools well in advance of any of the other schools’ deadlines).

I was really the most disenchanted with the Macaulay Honors Admissions Office of all the schools my son had applied to.

I just checked my my application thing online (no clue why) but on it it showed the two letters of recommendation and when they were received (with their names, both online), and then there was a 3rd one… the name was blank… and it said it was received by paper on 12/20… O_o What the…

tb0mb: Thats probably your counselor recommendation, if your school sent it in with the transcript. My school actually sent both of my teacher recommendations along with my transcript as well as the counselor one, so my status has 5 recommendations listed, 2 online, and 3 on paper with no name.

Hi i recently applied to Macaulay honors and it says that my transcript is missing but I attend a NYC public high school. Is this just because it takes a while to get the documents together? any insight?
