Macbook versus Macbook Pro

In their original specs, Pro is more powerful with more space and larger screen (looking at 15 inch). But Macbook 13 inch is smaller, nice keyboard (although not backlit) and $700 or so less. Macbook is so tempting especially if not playing games (sic) or making videos. If using Office and whatever applications Math, Bio, English departments use, is Macbook enough? Any experiences out there? Or does macbook slow down as soon as you try to download song, write paper, open email at same time? Heart says Macbook, mind says Pro.

The pro is only better if you're gonna be playing a lot of games (in which case you should just spend the extra money on an xbox or wii instead) or for some reason really need a bigger screen. They have essentially the same processors and other components except for the graphics card, so there's no reason to get a Pro for normal academic use, unless you just want to look different. I've seen a ton of Macbooks around campus and only one or two Pros. I'd say save your money and go for the Macbook.

yeah..most people use macbooks. But the few who use pros have sex with them. Macbooks seem more durable. And whatever you do -dont made the mistake i made - i thought of saving some money and bought a really cheap dell which totally sucks.

i'm torn as well, macbook or macbook pro.

I don't play games, but have a pro, and still, text is still a little tough on my eyes. I don't think I could last long on a macbook. I'm long-sighted but don't wear my glasses much.
Blackbooks smudge easily. Macbooks always look good. But the metallic finish on the pros get stained so easily and not so easy to clean, except you buy the apple cleaner for 25 bucks.
