-simplywicked–Is the second level the aluminum over the white? I thought that was just the framework. Do you mean going from 13" to 15". Hartt only requires the minimum this year for MT students but I realize this in an important investment and don’t want to get the wrong thing. They show the macbook white under $1000, the aluminum about $200 more and then they jump to the mac pro at $2300. Any suggestions?

Ok I called OCU today and they told me that none of the things listed on the website are required… I just don’t understand why they would put it on the website if it wasn’t true!

You called OCU? Did you talk to the music school or did you talk to the general admissions office?

I’m just wondering because it’s not required for the whole school, it seems it is only required (at least in terms of what’s listed on the website) for Wanda Bass students.

My mom said she talked to the school of music!

Kitkatt, you sure are right! I received an email today (your post prompted me to ask!) stating that Macs are not REQUIRED, though it says so on the website. I’m thinking “highly recommended” would be a better choice of words… :)

pohsmom - I am talking about the aluminum macbook. The '15 inch would be overkill for anyone who is not a graphic design or business major. I also strongly suggest purchasing the Apple Care Protection Plan and iWork instead of Microsoft Office for Mac. I have found that Pages (iWork’s word processing program) allows the user to be much more creative–providing many beautiful templates for resumes, business letters, programs, flyers, etc. All are based on the drag and drop technology that macs are famous for.

Mobileme is a great program, but is not necessary for the first year of college unless your child is already at a level to need his or her own website to market themselves.

ALSO remember when buying a printer for said laptop that they do not come with USB cords. You MUST purchase them separately.
