I’m not organizing because I don’t live in Maine. But we do need a date.
And a place.
I would suggest after Labor Day and on a weekday, because less tourists. And since it will be away the 9-16 of September, I’d prefer a different week. But if that’s what works out for everyone else…so be it.
@MaineLonghorn any suggestions in Portland for lunch on a weekday? Your town just a tad north is fine with me, but maybe Portland would be good as those in the greater Boston area might want to join in.
There’s a wonderful restaurant, Royal River Grillhouse, on the harbor in Yarmouth I think we should choose. Beautiful views and great food. And easy parking, which makes the extra drive worth it. And then people could come to our house afterwards if they want.
My schedule is wide open for September. What’s the best way to get a consensus? Are weekends the best? Has anyone ever organized a Doodle poll? I’ve had friends do that in the past.
I’m fine with anything. Day or time. Or place. I do think you can best gauge when tourist season would make the drive and restaurant problematic. I say…pick a day…and go for it.
I was actually thinking that the harbor around the Royal River Grillhouse looks very familiar (based on pictures from Google maps). We also drive past the Muddy River on the same trips. I have wondered if it is any good but I have not stopped there either.
Let me know when and where and I’ll see if I can make it. Still working, so weekdays are a bit hard, but not impossible to make. Am a vegetarian - as long as the restaurant has a couple of options for me, I am fine with anything. The company is the main point here!
How about Friday, September 22 at 11:45 am (to beat the lunch crowd)? We’ll see if there are enough people who can make it that day. I’m welcome to alternative dates, though.
That will be the 37th anniversary of when my husband and I first came to Portland, when we interviewed for our jobs.
Yay! If anyone wants to come over to our house afterwards, you’d be welcome. We’re about 10 minutes from the restaurant. We could walk back to the Royal River.
