Major at Florida State University, Future Occupational Therapy Student

I currently am a community college student in NY and I really hope to transfer to a school in Florida. My top 3 choices are University of Florida, Florida State, and University of Tampa. My first pick would obviously be UF but right now I only have a 3.0 gpa. I am doing good this spring semester and then I have one more fall semester at my current school before I can graduate with a liberal arts degree, so my gpa will be going up. I just don’t think I am smart enough to go to UF as an undergrad right now, but hopefully I can go to grad school there.

With Florida State, it seems I have a better chance of getting in. I want to be an occupational therapist. UF has a health sciences degree with prerequisites for occupational therapy. Florida State on the other hand has neither majors. So I was wondering what my major at FSU would be. Should I major in exercise science, biology, children and family science (I plan on working with children) I just want to make sure I pick the best major to get me in grad school.

The University of Tampa has an allied health program with pre- OT and the main problem I have with Tampa is that the school is very expensive and offers very little to no scholarships/ finical aid

UF’s pre-OT program is very competitive (and a limited access program); a 3.0 GPA (the minimum required) would likely not win you admission.

Good Luck!
