I’m thinking about changing my major from liberal arts: math and science (aerospace engineering transfer) to business. When I first came to community college from high school I was a business major, however, I thought why not try for aerospace engineering since it was my dream job as a kid. I quickly changed my major to liberal arts: math and science and started taking transfer classes for ae. I did good the first year of college getting nothing below a B taking both major and ge reqs. I’m now in General Chem 1 and Calc 1 and I’m struggling hard. It’s not that the subjects are just hard with a lot of homework and things to study, but I just felt like I lost interest. Just looking at advanced math/physics problems as well as advanced chemistry problems made me feel sick. I’m changing back to business a year later. Am I making the right choice? I always thought I’d be a good businessman I just wanted to try out what I dreamed of being as a kid. Many people told me how ae was one of the most difficult majors. What do you guys think?
No one can answer this very personal question but you.
I can say, if you are already struggling with interest in Calc I, engineering probably isn’t for you. The best engineers are the ones fascinated by the math, math typically many layers deeper than where you are, that builds on the things you already don’t like.
