Major changes?

how easy is it to change majors in Brandeis? I’m filling out the application right now and i’m not sure if i should just put UNDECIDED or not? Is there a disadvantage if i put undecided? i just don’t want to end up putting a major and then changing my mind later on

It's very easy to change majors. You have to have put something down by the end of your sophomore year, but even after that you can still change it, as long as you have taken all required courses.

wait so there is no disadvantage in going undecided?

that's such a difficult question to answer because the process is subjective. if you put down a major that is less common like linguistics, for example, and it seems you will be a real boon to the program than it may help.

i don't think they will look down on you for putting undecided, but as I often say, contact Brandeis admissions directly for their take on the question.

Also, when you put down your prospective major, you aren't bound to it. It's not like you declare your major when you send in your application. Your app for admission isn't into a certain program or even a certain school (we've only an undergraduate college). Undecided is perfectly fine.

Firstly, it is extremely easy to change your majors. You major choice also has no impact on the classes you are allowed to take. I strongly doubt undecided will hurt your chances as it implies you're open to all types of classes and are striving to get a libral arts education.

You should definitely not worry about that and work on your essays.

Just so you know I put undecided and I was accepted.
