I have noticed from my research that some schools (Duke, Berkeley) offer their CS major in the arts and sciences school while others (Stanford, Penn) offer it in the engineering school. I have a "dilemma" (see it here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania/1434050-how-penn-computer-science-economics-public-policy-poly-sci-psych.html#post15225071 ) where my interests are in those 4 areas (only one of which is offered in the school of engineering). Thus, I would almost definitely apply to the College of Arts and Sciences.

My question is how does acquiring an engineering degree while being part of the college work. I have read on their website that it has to be a double major in addition to something else. Does the degree the college student earns with an engineering degree a B.S. or a B.A.? Does a B.A. in CS leave me underprepared to go into programming or put me at a disadvantage when being hired? Thanks so much!
