Major in Finance or Economics and Philosophy

Hello, I'm currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh am unsure if I should change my major. I am currently a Finance major with an Economics minor. My question is what a Finance degree from Pitt is worth in the world of finance. If I can't get a flagship job with a high salary, I would probably go to law school. Given the law school, I was considering majoring in Economics and Philosophy given Pitt's excellent philosophy program.

Thoughts?

I’d do it.

Dont underestimate the value of a finance or econ degree when going to law school, a law firm will not be impressed by a philosophy major from pitt (even if it is a good program), ecn or finance you might be able to spin better.

minor in philosophy if possible for lsat purposes…i would take a practice lsat though, if you get below 165, i wouldnt go

I agree. Finance can easily be as useful or more than a philosophy degree for law, especially if you end up doing corporate law or similar. Besides, a lot of law programs are hurting as bad as finance programs trying to place students, and if you don’t get in at a top school, you may very well be glad you have something to fall back on with finance, which is still a much more reliable job-getter than philosophy.
