MAJOR IN HISTORY OR POLITICAL SCIENCE?

I’m an international student from Turkey and I want to study in U.S. After graduation I want to work in Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Because of the requirements of my major area I need to study political science, international relations or any subject that contains %70 of these majors. I’m really confused about what to study. Will I have more options of employment if I study History? Or are most of the political science courses already included in History major? I’m more interested in History but I don’t know if I should go that way. I appreciate any answer.
Thanks.

I think your employment options - in the U.S., at least - would be relatively similar with a history or a political science major. Political science does have the advantage of quantitative social science research training, which could be useful in many kinds of jobs that require policy analysis and other forms of quant analysis. But you can always make sure that you get that kind of training by taking specific classes in it - you could take statistics in the political science department (if your college offers it, or in the psych or math department) and take classes on political science research methods.

Political science at a US college is going to inevitably have a fairly US focused perspective, which doesn’t seem very helpful in your career goal. I’d go with IR. You can still cherry pick some relevant PS courses.
