I'm currently in high school and am starting to look for future career options I am interested in going to medical school, but am ambivalent on what I should major in as a pre-med. I know this question has come up many times, and I have looked through many other threads.
I think I want to major in Biomedical Engineering, but I am concerned that if I don't end up getting into med school or it just doesn't work out, I won't have many career options with that major. I am also concerned that my GPA won't be very high, as that engineering majors are known to be quite difficult. I am also looking into Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
I am leaning towards Biomedical Engineering, but if any of these other options is better if med school doesn't work out, I would like to know. I know this is sort of a repetitive question, but thank you for your time!

Of the ones you have mentioned…Chemical engineering is the most marketable major if you don’t end up in med school.

If you get a degree in ChemE and don’t go to med school, you can get hired in a high paying position right out of undergrad.

When my son was a ChemE undergrad, so were two of his house-mates. He went onto med school, but his two housemates went on to jobs…both were hired at salaries in the $75k-85k range. It sure made my son pause a bit…lol.

Some of the new ChemE hires are making bonuses in the 20-25% range which means they probably made 100k+.

Yes
