Majoring in Journalism but in a science LC

So registering for a dorm was 2 weeks ago and I was on the second day of registering. I was looking for a room in Respect/Responsibility/Discovery/Excellence dorms. I really didn't care about the LCs or FIGs, but now I don't know how it's going to work. Can I drop the LC? The only reason I picked it is because on the 2nd day of registering, all the good rooms that I wanted were taken and I would have either had to live in a place I didn't want to live in, or just register for a dorm I kind of liked, but that's not a journalism Fig or LC. So right now I'm in a room in the Discovery dorm in the Carver(science) LC.

So basically, what can I do? Can I just drop it and just stay there without a LC or FIG?

In the last week of April (last day to cancel contract is May 1), there should be more people dropping rooms and moving around.

I’m still in my #3 choice in FIG and hoping I can move to my #2 or #1 choice.

Hi Roaring was crazy this year. Honestly, if you don’t care about being in a FIG or LC I wouldn’t worry about it. You don’t have to do anything in the LC you want and I’m pretty sure you can drop out later. I’d stay in it for now unless a room opens up that you like w/o a fig or LC. There are so many kids out there still looking to change that if you like your room I wouldn’t sweat it.

If it were me, I would just stay where you are and when you get to school in the fall just let them know you won’t be doing any of the LC activities. Who cares if you are associated with one on paper. I don’t think you have to do anything with it anyway. Very little rooms were put in the system that were not LC or FIG’s.

Like Bookshelf said, I’d check back periodically just in case and right before May 1st more may open from kids who signed up but are not going.

I can say my Daughter got really lucky and her and her roommate got the exact room and FIG they wanted. They got lucky the top two rooms they were looking for were in the top two FIG’s they wanted. Her roomate went in and looked in one of the FIGs and got the room they wanted and put my daughter in (then my daughter was able to go in and cancel the room she wanted which was their second room choice). She was able to get that done, and get her roommates request for her as a roommate done prior to the system crashing 15 minutes after it opened. She got lucky that she was able to get her room saved before it crashed.
