Majors for BME in Grad School

I’m a Senior in High School planning to earn a MS in BME. My question is about how competitive a BS in like ChemE (with elective/emphasis in biochem) would be for acceptance into grad school for BME. I’m worried that if I major in BME for my BS and Grad school doesn’t work out that I might be left without a job (having heard lots of bad things about the job market for a BS in BME), but also worried that if I major in ChemE I might not get into grad school (or might end up at a sub-par program).

I’m confident that I could handle the workload and such in either program. If it helps, I’m currently planning to attend either BYU (if ChemE) or the University of Utah (if BME) for my undergrad.

BME graduate programs take people who came from a number of undergraduate programs, including chemical engineering. They take plenty of chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and materials scientists, to name a few. you’ll be fine.
