Make Business Stand Out in Admissions

I am the owner of a website that earns money through ads, and also helps people find local tutors, of which I get a commission from all of my tutors if they are discovered through my site.

The site has been pretty successful, 15k views per month, made a few thousand off it.

However I need a way to stand out to admissions officers with my company. Do you have any suggestions of things for me to do over the summer to make my business look better than other businesses that high schoolers would have had? Thanks alot

Sponsor a fundraiser, expand the business, and/or gain publicity. Can you contact a newspaper about publishing an article about your unique business and entrepreneurial skills?

Do consider the fact that the Common App will only permit a brief description of your activities. However, if you are writing about the business in an essay, you can stand out by writing about a unique experience or a time in which you were able to change the life of another human being with your business.

You can expand more on it in the supplemental part of the common app by talking more about it, through your essays, or recommendations, if it is really important to you.

As the above poster mentioned, see if you can get publicity. Then you can send the published piece about the business to the admissions office, which they may be impressed by.
