I got rejected by UCLA for bioengineering. I was accepted by UCSD for bioengineering:biotech... I know it wouldnt make a difference now that I was rejected by UCLA... but is bioengineering better at UCSD than at UCLA?...haha i guess i just wanna feel better about myself after that rejection. :) anyways thx in advance.

trust me i know how u feel. but i just got better since UCSD has better biomed program :D being rejected doesnt hurt much now!

Haha... i just made a board about this (but for biology). I think it's most definitely true that UCSD>UCLA in bioengineering. I also think job opportunities are better in SD... hello recruiters!!
Plus: Shamu>Bruin

For bioengineering/biotech, UCSD definitely beats UCLA. Had I been accepted into both for the major, I would have gone with UCSD regardless (actually I did get into LA for comp eng, and went with UCSD. Haven't regretted it once).

Edit: Konakai brings up a good point...I do believe the job oppurtunities in terms of research or internships are better in SD for bioeng

oh wow thx thx for the reassurance...ya i was gonna go with ucsd even if i got into ucla... thats what my head was telling me to do... but my heart that loves the downtown was reaching for ucla... Now that decision has been made for me...
See ya guyz in ucsd next year... unless of course i get into johns hopkins :)

wow.. wth lol dude u'r in the same exact position i am. I also got into sd biotech and rejected from la and i'm waiting for jhu (my #1 choice) lolll

IM SO EXCITED FOR SD BIOTECH!!! :D

Hm... I guess another way to make you feel better is to brag about the weather down here. It seriously rains like four times the entire year here, and all the other days are either refreshing overcast or bright and sunny weather that is perfect for any beach-related event. You don't really notice how spoiled you are until you go home.

And congrats to making it here, especially on an impacted major! If you have any questions just let me know.

^yeah we are pretty spoiled here at UCSD. Running in the morning along La Jolla Shores is a spectacular feeling.
My cousin attends UW-Seattle, where she is bombarded with low temperatures, rain, hail, and snow 3/4 of the year. Being from Guam, I would die if I went to school there.

I think after a while, I'd start to miss the rain though. Up in Norcal, you get the best of both worlds. It's sunny almost all the year without being extremely hot, and when it rains, you actually appreciate it. It's both beautiful and refreshing :]

As for the original topic, I agree with everyone else. Bioeng at SD is well-known for being one of the best in the country, so dont be too upset about UCLA.

^ well ucsd..I read... Was ranked #2 in the nation for biotech...while ucla didn't even make the top 10 list
Hope this helps!

Haha. I got rejected from UCLA too, but I'm excited about going to Revelle with a Human Bio major.

wait.... ucsd is 2nd for biotech? i thought it was 2nd for biomedical engineering... right after jhu... Wow. I did not know that.

Anything with "bio" in it is basically AWESOME at UCSD.

UCSD is renowned for their Bio programs. So look @ that and you should feel super awesome! (no sarcasm) this is how i coped with being rejected from UCLA
