Ivy League has their on area on CC, HADES and other "prominent" schools should also. I am not trying to say these schools are better just they would be the Hub of what most people are applying to.

Yes, I agree.

Lol thats not to smart, either everyone would be posting there or everyone would stay here. Conisdering the majority of the schools mentioned here are the rich ones.

My sense is that 90% of the posts on this forum are already about the "prominent" schools. What you would lose is the input of those of us who are professionals working at other schools who are willing to take the time to offer you occasional advice despite the fact that it's like pulling teeth to try to get you to consider our schools.

Was just an idea, thought the Ivies had their own why not us. But hey you got a point :)

The "Master list of 2012 acceptances" was mis-named, as not everyone was applying for 9th grade. Perhaps a better name would have been "March 2008 acceptances." Then, this year we can have the "Master list of March 2009 acceptances."

Please make school sub-forums!!!

i agree (tenchar)

Yes school sub-forums.

I'd prefer school threads, in the model of the St. Paul's thread. If sub-forums for certain schools were set up, many applicants would fall into the two-school, Andover/Exeter trap.

My suggestion: set up a sub-forum for financial aid threads, probably in the parent's sub-forum. That would make it easier for applicants and parents to find.

I don't really agree with the sub school threads, than only people who are applying to exter will talk or only people who are appling to andover will talk. It takes away from the point of everyone's discussions with lots of peoples inputs....

The “Prep School Admissions” forum, especially in September through May is composed of students who are going into prep school. Of course there are a few gracious people who are already in boarding school and are willing to help us. Once I am in boarding school, next year, I would love to congregate with fellow students, talk about boarding school, talk about games played (because most schools play with each other), etc. Maybe it can be named “Boarding School Life”… And it should not be a cafe (such as High School Life), we will constructively talk about boarding school.

Just like colleges make an A-Z list of schools. I would say in the first few weeks just let CCers insert a name and create the forum and so on. This would let everyone get all their schools.

Okay, is this site a sort of learning area (prep school for parents?) or is it meant to discuss preparatory school issues? Again, what do you mean by “prep” school? A place to go before college? I know if I don’t know, maybe this is not the right thread for me, but I can learn. Can the originator please define?

A sub site for HADES etc? Are you kidding? That’s basically what this site is today. It’s important for motivated kids and families who want the best to be exposed to different versions and philosophies of what “best” means/is. Boarding schools and the decisions about visits, applications and attendance can only be improved by broader exposure to school choices and the arguments made by the different schools’ supporters and detractors.

Allow me to second Parlabane’s comment. Discussion here already centers on HADES, but other folks do credible job of discussing other schools (to wit the recent discussion about Thacher/Cate), and I would like to think that everyone benefits. Of late, Canadian schools have also entered the discussion, and I have done my 2 cents by discussing Kents Hill School, as well as St. Mark’s (which gets somewhat surprising short-shrift here).

Is “prep” school synomous with “boarding” school at this thread?

Yes it is.

I wish it had different sections about different schools or something like that. I would love to know more about my school.

there might be a thread about your school. you can try searching it.

It would be nice if there was a sub-forum where the kids could obsess about, and share tips on the SSAT; similar to the SAT/ACT section of the college part. I expect to see another dozen or so threads coming up in the next week when kids get their Oct results. It would be nice if they were all in the same place.
