Are M/F percentages noticeable on campus? For instance, what IS noticable? Is something like 52/48 noticeable?
My current school is 55/45. I don’t notice it when I’m walking around on campus, but I’ve noticed it in several classes and student organizations. I wouldn’t notice if a class had 55% men and 45% women, but I’ve been the only girl in two different scenarios (philosophy club and a math class). It’s a STEM-oriented school, and a lot of departments are more like 75% male.
I’ve also attended a 46/54 school. Again, the gender disparities were mostly connected to specific departments. I noticed that a lot of male-dominated subjects were closer to being 50/50.
My boyfriend went to a 70/30 school. That was noticeable.
My school is 55% female and 45% male and it is not noticeable around campus.
my school is nearly 50/50 so it’s not noticeable there. But for my major, the ratio is like 90/10. The difference is obviously very clear in my CS classes.
Thanks everyone.
