My DD is the only male at his studio, and while he is a competitive dancer even at his competitions there would be at most 4 other guys competing in his age group. He did get into a summer program in Boston, where there were 44 guys in the 15-19 age group. 10 were year round students that live in Boston.

I’m a male TDPS major at Berkeley. I’m mostly a dancer, but the major includes other stuff as well.

How many other males are there dancing?
Are most of them serious about dancing?

I’m a serious male dancer. :)

50% at Juilliard and quite a few at NYU Tisch too depending on the year.

any other schools?

how is the dance major at berkeley? any good?

Dance major at Berkeley is good, modern-based (Graham and others). Also excellent ballet to supplement outside of school at Berkeley Ballet Theater, a short walk from campus.

Another excellent program is New World School of the Arts in Miami. EXCELLENT! They have many great male dancers, they usually take 12 males, 12 females, like Juilliard. Some of the best male dancers I have ever seen, very tough admit. Also look at U of Arts in Philadelphia–really excellent.

Im not in college yet. im still a freshman but i plan on majoring in dance when i graduate. i also take dacing very seriously. itz practically my life
