I Hope they had a good turnout today. I look forward to seeing it when I’m down there in a few weeks.

I know many current students don’t really know the significance of Foster Auditorium, but hopefully the renovations and the plaza will encourage them to learn more about the history.

Autherine Lucy, James Hood, and the family of Vivian Malone were on campus today participating in a panel discussion and the dedication of the plaza and clock tower. I really wanted to attend both events, but had other commitments. :(

I’ve read and highly recommend former UA dean, Dr. E. Culpepper Clark’s book “The Schoolhouse Door: Segregation’s Last Stand at the University of Alabama” as a way to learn about this very important period in UA’s history.

Have you seen the plaza yet? If so, how does it look? Are the renovations to Foster done yet, or are they still ongoing? I know they were still working on things when I was down there for the UF game.

The plaza looks incredible…Something befitting a building of Foster’s historic nature. The Foster renovations are done. It will be rededicated tomorrow when Condi Rice is in town.

^^^Thanks so much, feenotype. Great pics. It is wonderful to see UA come to terms with its past, honor its courageous pioneers, and make such a powerful, visible statement about a better future.
