Funny at my school most of the top % is made up of guys.

the part about women scoring higher isnt true, according to collegeboard at least. you can look at their tables and stuff, and you'll see that the men tend to score higher (no I don't have the exact link).

Here it is

Don't know about you but I would love to go to a school with more girls than guys instead of the 3:1 ratio I'm looking at now...we're forced to import...

The OP's statement does seem true for my D's school, Pomona:

According to 2006 CDS:

2103 male applicants, 460 accepted, for 22% acceptance rate.
3336 female applicants, 503 accepted, for 15% acceptance rate.

oh my god...this is gonna kill me....im female...im black....everything about admissions in top universities is against me......although, im just about to start my senior year in high school..so i havent applied yet....but i hope they start accepting more females..

Guzyguz: being black will probably help, not hurt you.

i know right... guzyguz... as a black female... you can get into any college.

While the female applicant pool may be stronger, (as the article points out), I'd be careful to conflate this with comparative intelligence. Most studies that I've seen show male students testing better than their female counterparts. (albeit by a small margin) I'd say that the heart of the problem is lower GPAs and fewer ECs. Either way, I am in favor of the steps that colleges take to maintain an even gender ratio. It is a way to bolster diversity on campus.
