March 14th Horror Stories

wow. the only thing that happened was that we could hear probably a 5 year old running around the 2 nd floor outside...constantly for about 5 minutes and the whole room shook.

ARGHHH cannot believe i left my brand new ti-89 titanium in the testing room!!! praying no one took it .. i just bought it a few months ago b/c i had lost my old one! D:

also, i had to go to the bathroom at the end of almost EVERY section. painful. and the bathroom was literally, 5 min away so i practically RAN to the bathroom and sprinted back to get back to the room in time for the test. NOT fun.

Isn't the 89 a banned calculator?

Oh man, I would say 50freefly has the worst one so far. What did you end up doing?
I just remembered, during the break i went to use the bathroom, and a minute in, another class started their break, so when I was in the stall I had to stay completely motionless/soundless because I'm embarrassed by people in the bathroom hearing how I defecate (is that weird?). So I basically waited for all the other people to finish, and then I finished, and came back to the room 3 minutes late, and the whole room stared at me because they were waiting for me to get back.

The 89 isn't banned. I used it on the test, though I didn't really need it, aside from tangent functions. An 84 would have been fine.

I was fixing up my thesis statement and I had just erased a majority of it and wrote 3 words and the buzzer goes off. I was too scared to go back and complete it quickly because there were 2 prompters and they always circled the room. :(

I answered 2 CR questions sneakily after time was called ><

Man, I freaked out when I counted up how many math questions I'd omitted...7. God if I get more than 2 wrong that I answered...-600 ;-; I hate math so much...

The classroom I was in had a 30'+ long row of huge fish tanks with turtles, frogs, fish, etc. alongside the windows, with all the machinery - air pumps, water pumps, what not - going. My desk was right next to this installation.
I know that it's far from waterboarding, but do you know what the sound of running water can do to you when you are confined to a room for an extended period of time?!

I broke down after the second section, confessed to everything, then asked the proctor to kill the nature - I mean, the pumps. Surprisingly, he agreed, and would let the aquatic life get a life during long breaks. The creatures survived. I would not, had this tranquil soundscape permeated the room for another hour. Either that, or I'd have to cut the line to the restroom, and that would result in bodily damage: my testmates would be in pressing need too.

haha
the proctors at my testing sight didn't even check if your calculator was okay or not
=</p>

the proctor in my testing centers didnt check id, admission ticket, or calculator. Also, the proctor was so immersedin his newspaper that we had 43, YES, 43 minutes for one of the CR

I have a really bad one.

I vaguely remember planning to skip a certain math problem but for some reason when I thought about my overall test, I thought I only skipped 2 problems (both grid ins in a different section). That means I may have skipped that problem, putting the next answer in its spot. (For example, I wanted to skip 15 but then I put the answer for 16 in 15 and 17 in 16, etc.)

I really hope not. If I did do that, my hopes for a good score go right down the drain. The only hope I have is that I either guessed an answer for that problem without remembering or I did skip it but just forgot. Because I remember planning to skip another problem in that section too and in my memory I skipped 2 problems. Maybe in my memory, I meant 2 MC and 2 Grid Ins.

^ i did that for the psat...it was horrible. and i couldnt retake it.

43 minutes for CR isn't a horror story; that's a dream.

It'd be amazing if we could tell what section the experiment one is. Then we can just take those 25 minutes and work on another section. Ha.

Kid next to me started buggin out. Everyone was gettin ready to start the test, and i noticed this kid next to me seemed pretty nervous. So the proctor told us to start the essay, and this nervous kid just THREW UP EVERYWHERE! It was literally everywhere; a little bit even got on this another kids shoe. Funny thing is the kid insisted on not going to the nurse so he just kept working...

That is.. amazing.

Mine checked my ID. And my hair is MUCH shorter than what was in the picture and I lost like 30 pounds. So, he looks at the ID, looks at me. Then is like, "Hmm." And looks again. And was like, "Okay, fine. Take a seat." I have a feeling he didn't think I was myself, hahaha.

Well, at the end of one session I finished early so I was just sitting back waiting, and then the proctor said "Stop. Put your pencils down" and looked straight at me and I wasn't even sure if she was talking to me or not and said "Immediately!" and I'm thinking "What?... my pencil's down.. I'm not doing anything" and then the other proctor like rushes up behind me and closes my answer book and I'm like.. "Oh.. sorry?" lol it's not like she said close the answer book

and also after the tenth session I just close my answer book and then when the proctor's collecting them, I just flip through the answer book just to see how many I omitted. Then you know how if you write in pencil on paper that's on top of another paper with pencil writing on it and you get like marks on the back of the paper? So I had bubbles all over one page of my answer book and I was about to erase them but then I thought "well they might see me erasing and make a huge scandal" so i decided that I'd tell the proctor when she got to me and I was like "Um, is this ok? there are like accidental marks all over it. Can I erase them quickly?" and the proctor was like "No!!" and snatched the answer book from me.... >_> Hope it won't mess up the scores "/ lol

zam614, I had those marks too! But my proctor was lenient. I erased them. I don't think they are a big deal though. You will be fine. Seriously, I think I would hate your proctor. She seems crazy.

lol..dang
yea, the the proctors at the site i took my december sat were pretty mean...this time, they weren't as bad

lmao. ilovebio, actually, I was in the same room as a friend of mine and she dropped some stuff so were like the last ones to leave. Then when we were leaving I was like "Bye. Thanks" but in good spirit and all.. lol then later i had a feeling that she thought I was being sarcastic because she didn't respond lol...

And about those marks, all I could see was that they were on the margin but i couldn't tell if there actually were some on the bubbling side... hopefully not, but thanks =)

has anyone ever heard of the scantron reading answers wrong because of erased bubbles? i changed my answer a couple of times, and it was really hard to completely erase.. and im starting to get worried that its going to get messed up!
