March 20 SAT Scores

i'm moderately happy...I'm happy that I can actually make a difference with my scores...if my writing mc from oct was combined with this essay = 770, so it's alright.

690 M
740 CR
670 WR (64/10)

I'm actually 20 points lower this testing, but superscored w/800 and 680, it's 50 higher to 2170.

670 M
710 CR
640 WR (65/8)

My writing section is really strange bc i normally get a 10-11 on the essay and much better on the mc...so i really want to see my score report to see exactly what i got wrong bc ive never done this badly on that section!

for all of you who have taken the test mulitple times..

are there any classes or online sites that you took/looked at in between times taking the test that have improved your scores?

I did atrocious on critical reading.

610 CR
770 Math
690 Writing

Total: 2070

I'm not too outraged at the writing (70/80 on mc, 8 on essay), but I'm definitely going to take it again and try to improve the CR. Though my mom tried to cheer me up by saying its a great score for someone who wasn't born in America. But I am shooting for many ivies...

sigh
June 7th anyone?

Math 740
CR 710
W 680

Very happy; brought my math score up 80 points and critical reading score 120 points from October, plus I have the 700 in writing from Oct. I can use. Probably won't be taking it again, I'm very happy with my 2130.

rssll5: I used the Kaplan test prep program, which consisted of 8 prep classes and 4 practice tests. I think it taught really good strategies for all sections and definitely contributed to the 180-point boost in my scores.

yes, june 7th.
rssll5, i used kaplan, too.
they prepare you well, but
it also costs a fortune.

evie..

how well did it help? my parents will pay for a class... to them a few hundred bucks is worth it if it means i can raise my score, become a NMF and go to college for free..

what's with everyone and the superscoring? how can i tell which colleges do superscoring? i went to many colleges' websites and none of them really specify that...
and yes math curve is pure brutality... i hate it...
maybe too many azns kept getting 800s and they wanted to lower the national average.. idkk..
grr

tj - I also would be interested in what source provides info on superscoring. For example, I have heard that Brown does not superscore but on their website it does not mention that specifically

Base - DD also got an 8 yet had been scoring 10 and one 11 previously. She felt really good about her essay and that it met the standards of her previous ones. CB states that you can pay $50 for verification but all that does is check for a alignment error not a re-reading of the essay. Not sure if that is worthwhile.

780 CR
720 M
800 WR (79/11)

2300!!

2 things:

1) darnfancylettuce - i totally agree about math, i thought i ROCKED it. was the curve especially nasty this time around?

2) general question: will a 750+ on the Math IIC make up for my 720 math here? i'm shooting for competitive scores and really dont want to take the SATs again just for math.

thanks if you can help!

Hey, I got a 2280 (CR: 800, W:770, M:710) - should I retake? This was my first time, and I want to get above 2300, but I am deathly afraid of getting a lower score!

galestorm, this is really freaky, but i got those exact same scores for each subject. i'm in the same boat as you and i don't know if i should take it again

Ok so I have a question:
I got a 2340 (800CR/800W/740M) and I'm wondering if it will look like math is my worst subject to science/math centered colleges. I got killed by that harsh curve because after the test I realized that I fat-fingered punching the question where you added up the college costs into my calculator and then I misbubbled one of those I, II, III questions (I hate that format, so annoying). So I normally get 800 math on practice tests and I've been studying calculus for almost three years now, and I was wondering if you guys thought it might be beneficial to retake so it doesn't look like my math is worse than my humanities, which it really isn't. This is the lowest math score I've had on any of the practices or real tests I've taken, and so I'm a little sad about it. However, I really like my overall score and I don't want to come off as obsessive for retaking a 2340. However, it does appeal to the perfectionist in me to retake because I was just two dumb non-math related errors from a 2400. What do you think I should do?

DUDE i cant believe i did so well on the dumbest section (writing) too. 790 wr, 74 math (AHH!!!), 73 CR

seirously i usually get 800's on math too!! so frustrating....... but max0103, wow almost perfect...

Also in the same boat as galestorm & Iheartbrown, I got a 2290, with 800 M, 760 W, 730 CR. I am really happy about writing and math, but CR could probably be better. But is it worth it? Let me know what you guys decide and why.

I don't think you guys have to retake it again. You have to remember the ranges. 740 would put you pretty much in the same boat as an 800. To really consider one score better than another it usually has to be about at least 80-100 points apart I believe. I would be fine with anything 700+ on each section. That shows a great level of mastery, whether its 740 or 800. No one is going to say 2400 is better than 2340. It's the same level.

i totally agree with kasiiaaa..

if your sat score starts with a 23 then people are going to take note. it shows you have mastered the test.

kassiiaaa is soo right.

so -2 on math was a 740?

OK, reading through the posts, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one wondering why my Math section was the lowest, especially since I though it was ridiculously easy. The CR I thought was easy, and it seems there were a lot of high scores there too, so I guess I'm not alone.

CR 800
W 770 (76/10)
M 740

for a total of 2310. (first try!)
