March 2012 SAT I Math Thread

Yes, it was 1/4. There was a question with equilaterals attached to an isosceles. I got 34? I originally had 36 but realized the middle was not equilateral too lol.

for the triangle one where we had to find the y value, couldn’t we use the coordinate given as height and not base like 6 instead of 4 and then get 2 as answer

Yeah it was 34

@meat yup

is anyone else switching around threads a lot? we should have one for the whole SAT

what about the fraction of the equilateral thing

why is it 34 and not 36?

Two mistakes so far! I’m doomed.

ahh damn nvm

The isosceles triangle on the inside was a 6, 6, 5 triangle. (perimeter 17)

Therefore, the outer edge is 2(6)+2(6)+2(5)
which would end up being 34.

@SATMaster13

The middle triangle was isosceles with one side with length 5 and two sides with length x.
The total perimeter was 17, therefore the other two sides must have been 6 and 6.
6 + 6 + 6 + 6 + 5 + 5 = 34

what do you guys think the curve will be? hopefully it’s not as bad as that of january

GOD DAMMIT.

I put 36 but now I see why it’s 34.

So far:
3 omit
2 wrong? i think.
and like 10-15 right

I need 670+ :(

I actually liked the math haha! Although it was a bit harder than some practice tests, I was able to pull through. Here is a list of my answers.

For the quadrilateral in the circle it was 4

Triangle asking to find third side, it was 6 + sqrt (2 or 3, forgot)

for the triangle asking for third possible side, it was 1.9 cause it had to be 1<x<9 cause sides were 4 and 5

For the exponent one, it was like 2^2x+1(3^4)(5^x) = 2^z-5(3^y)(5^3y), if work it out it should be 1440. I dont know how I solved that lol?!?

cake I got 4/15

for the are had to be less than 12 triangle, the x coordinate had to be less than 4.5 and greater than something. So I put 4
7.For the cats and dogs pet store, there were 14 cats, 28 dogs, and 8 neither
8.For the circle graph with the sales of cars, it was 90

For the number line with tick marks, it was 5.5

For the one which asked for the graph of a indirect proportion, it was the rational function because y = k/x so b. kinda doubt this one

For the hotel at Ottowa, it was 4 nights

For the yellow crayones, it was like 155

For the y = (x-b)(x-a) and y = (x-b)(x-c), it was (b,0) cause x int cross

For the ratio 2 to 3 car ratio, it was a multiple of 5 so 35.

For the 8x/7 = 3 what does 2x/7 = I got 3/4??

For the number of integers between 200 inclusive, I think it was 29

For the shaded square inside a huge square, I got 6400

For the average of 7 integers, I got -30

For the line p it asked which of the points were on the line, i got (-5,4)

For the n > 3, n is a prime, what are the factors, I got 8 factors

For the average temperatures thing, I got 6

For the 6/13<|x-1|/13 < 8/13, I got -6

For the graph g(x) is f(x) shifted up 2, I got 6

I remember way more but put up some important ones. BTW the experimental math was the one with the truck problem.

@eagles
7. 14 dogs, 28 CATS(the answer)
8. The answer was 126 for a fact
15. Yes
20. I got six

Why is it that the errors I make are never in the experimental sections?

i’m pretty sure it c= 0 and r = 2…

f(0) = 2
g(2) = 0

i remember that definitely

that is correct

@eagles

8.For the circle graph with the sales of cars, it was 90

It was 126. It was the difference in degrees of the two angles.

One was 360 x .25 = 90 and the other was 360 x .6 = 216
216-90 = 126

Also some of those are experimental

@eagles
Nice list!
For the car sales (8), I’m pretty sure it was 126, though?
60% of sales = 216 degrees
25% of other graph = 90 degrees
216-90 = 126

@tjhsstKid21 Then I’m definitely remembering my answer wrong. Didn’t mean to scare you with my lack of memory.
