I know many of you are worried about what size envelope will be coming your way in a few weeks, but some among us are on pins and needles about how things will play out for our beloved Commodores in the tournament. They were so awesome last year. Anyone brave enough to offer a prediction as to how far they'll go?

BTW, I offered a couple of theories up to S about why the number of applications climbed so drastically this year (Commons coming online for next year's class and trickle down effect of new admissions policies at certain Ivy schools). He said maybe, but economic studies have been done to look at the correlation between performance in the NCAA tournament (evidently most particularly at the Sweet Sixteen level) and increase in applications the following year and that would account for part of this as well. Interesting!

I see us making it to the Sweet 16 again; I have a hard time thinking we can beat Kansas, though one of my brackets definitely shows otherwise. GO DORES!

Sweet 16 is where my bracket shows them as well, Vandy08. There is a little part of me that says if they can play like they did the night they beat Tennessee, they can do anything!

Sweet 16 is as far as I have them getting in my bracket as well. They would have to beat Kansas to get any further, and that would be very tough.

Traditionally ED communications have all come in small envelopes, yes or no. RD acceptances are in Priority Mail packets (11 x 13 or so) and ED admits also receive the same information at that time about housing, meal plans, etc. I believe Brad addressed this in a previous post this year, so it looks like it won't change. You can use the advanced features to seek out his posts using his screen name, vandyadmissions.

The whole NCAA tournament thing is crazy- when Davidson went far last year the applicants went up some 20%, and I can't imagine what will happen there after this years run, all due to Stephon Curry

Re the previous post, the 2008 March Madness success came months after the application deadline, so I don't think application numbers could have been affected this year. (In 2006 and 2007 Davidson went to the NCAA but lost good games in the first round with very limited publicity.)

my mistake, George Mason's applications shot up tremendously after their run in the tourny last year. next year I'm sure Davidson will have a huge boost in apps

This was a related thread to the HSL one, but a quick bump to just inform you guys to tell your team to practice free throws in the next 6 months.

what happened vandy??? I had you losing next round but still lol. I love how the allum/students thought they would make the sweet 16. clear fan pick there for you guys lol.
