Marching Band vs Part-time job?

I want to do one of the two, and obviously can't do both as I will be doing engineering and be in the honors college. I personally rather do marching band because that was one of my key criteria when applying to colleges, but I will also be graduating with around 50k debt since I only have a 5k/year scholarship and my parents can't help me pay for college despite their "high" income. So I was thinking of obtaining a part-time job on campus (and getting summer jobs) to significantly bring down the principal and pay off any interest so I will have more manageable payments when I graduate.

It seems I'm fighting between the logical solution and the personal solution I "want". Suggestions of any sort? Doing both on top of everything is out of the question since I need to maintain a 3.5 GPA for the Honors College and that seems like a daunting task in itself for Engineering and what I've heard from Engineering majors on this board. (Especially since this forum tends to attract the intellectually gifted few)

If I were you, I would try out marching band for the first year. If I found it was worth having the debt I would continue. If not, you can always just start working sophomore year. Those are my two cents :)
