Marching Band

is anyone here in the marching band?

anyone know what the time commitments are like, and how fun it is?

i've been in marching band through high school and plan on joining this year.

Have you seen our marching band? I feel like if you've seen it, you would know how fun it is. You'll probably see them during Admit Weekend...

Woohoo LSJUMB! I'm in it, and currently on Band Staph.

It's loads of fun. Completely different from your high school marching band, unless you know of any high school scatter bands. You can find some videos on YouTube if you look, though they're a few years old.

Time commitment is whatever you make it. Nothing is required, but like with a lot of things, the more you go to, the more fun you'll have and the more you'll get out of Band. Usually, we'll have rehearsal on Monday nights and one or two other events during the week, except during fall, when we also have field rehearsals for football games. You can actually put in a lot of time if you come to everything, but most people don't.

Out of curiosity, what instrument do you play?

Here's a youtube video of a rally: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boD_UFSsKwU

And celestial, I have no idea what you're talking about. ;)

It is supposed to be fun, and everybody loves the Band.
The ability to play an instrument is optional...

If you are considering it for the music, you might want to look into joining the Wind ensemble instead...

Yes, that's a good point. If you want a group focused exclusively on music, WE is for you. But the Band is not completely music-free, we just don't stress it most of the time because of the wide range of abilities. You can become a better musician in the Band.

And Band and Wind Ensemble are not mutually exclusive. A lot of people do both.
