The American Athletic Conference, which UCF is in, has banned marching bands and spirit squads on the field for this football season…IF there are any games.
Apparently they will be allowed in the stands (socially distanced of course), but not on the field for either pre-game or halftime.
And no visiting school bands, so UCF fans will not be able to enjoy the amazing Marching 100 from Florida A&M.
Still no word on whether there will be a football season. The NCAA holds the key and they keep extending their own deadline for making a decision.
Surprising as it is very easy for them to march 6 feet apart. Our high school is full speed ahead with marching band for this season.
Yeah, it didn’t make much sense to me either. I never did marching band, but my impression is that they’re almost always 6 feet apart!
I’m hoping that it’s actually a hint of a good thing – that they are planning to have football. Although you never know about that with the way cases are skyrocketing.
That makes no sense. Where will everyone else sit- they will take up all the room! I’m kidding. Are they afraid that putting them on the field will expose the players to Corona?
If it’s not safe for the kids to go to games, I would rather not have football. No Spirit Splash this year is going be a bummer.
