Hey everyone, I am currently at the USAFA Prep school, but I have a strong desire to join the Marines. I have always heard that if you join the Marines you are married to the Marines and that Marine life makes it hard to mantain a good family life. And I want a good family life. Also, do Annapolis graduates have to go through Marine OCS? How are the opportunities for being a pilot or infantry officer? Can anyone elaborate on these for me?

Now a days, if you are a marine JO, you are going to deploy a lot. You can make your own deductions as to what that would do to your family life.

Naval Academy Marines don't attend OCS.

The Marines can give you a guaranteed pilot slot going into TBS, or if you have a flight physical and a passing ASTB score, then you can also try to pick one up while you are there. Infantry is a highly sought after MOS, but it really comes down to luck and desires of the Corps when you pick MOSs, because they still split every TBS class into thirds and then let the top of the thirds have their pick and so on. This means, you could be top of second third and get your pick, or do slightly better and be bottom of first third, and get whatever is left over.

thanks. appreciated.
