Okay, the fourth question in the “Finding Your Niche” section of the UMD-CP app. is really confusing me. The first three are essentially asking about your research interests, career aspirations, etc. all relating to your academic interests. However, the fourth question asks “What, if any, additional information would you like us to know about you?” I’m really at a loss for what to say since I’m not quite sure what they are looking for. They can’t be asking about ec’s because there is an entire section for a full resume. Any ideas as to what they are looking for with this question?

hey i had the same question, wti did was just say liek "i feel that my application has adeuqetly described myself..etc.." and expanded on that then s ummed it up, if tht helps

Bump? Anyone else?

I answered it, but most kids at my school left it blank... ie. "Nope, theres nothing else I need you need to know."

One person just wrote "Go Terps"

Another quick question for anyone applying to UMD- the 2-3 page essay, is that 2-3 pages single or double spaced? And how should I format it for the online application (single/double spacing-wise)?

double spaced. btw u know if u didnt get the app in by dec 1st, even if ur instate its INCREADIBLY HARD to get in at all, unless ofcorse u cured cancer or something lol.

Aite that's good news if it's doublespaced. BTW, how hard is it if you submit your app after dec 1 and why? I thought it wasn't rolling decision?

The Dec. 1st priority deadline was moved to December 7th or 8th this year because of online application problems. What this means is that anyone who applied before this date will be notified of the decision by mid-February. Since it is rolling, you have the best chance of being admitted. It does get harder after that date, naturally, but there's really no telling how hard it gets and at what speed. It depends upon how the adcom paces itself with admits, and how many are admitted before your application gets reviewed.
