Interested in engineering, but seeking flexibility in case my passion lies elsewhere. OOS in each scenario. Taking factors such as financial cost and “value” into consideration, which school would you recommend?
OSU or Penn State are better for engineering IMO than UMass Amherst. However, the financial is a big consideration, especially since you’re OOS.
Broken record here… but what are the costs of attendance (tuition/fees/room/board minus grants/scholarships BEFORE loans)? How much loans will you need to take out for each?
Unless UMass is giving you very significant financial aid so that it is much cheaper than Ohio State or Penn State, I would just eliminate it from contention. It is good in engineering, but the other two are much better.
I would go to whichever is cheaper among Penn State & Ohio State… if they are nearly the same (less than $5-$10K per year difference), then just go with whichever you like best… they are both very strong and highly respected in engineering.
I agree. Also, if this matters, remember that Penn State is sort of in the middle of nowhere, while OSU is in a major city. Both are insane about football.
