Hey everyone,
I had a question regarding my options for a masters degree. right now i am majoring in mechanical engineering and a language and will be graduating in 2015. I started looking into master programs but I am leaning toward specialties other than mechanical. I am interested in Fire protection engineering, mining/geological engineering, and petroleum engineering.

My question is, would my mechanical undergrad degree allow me to enter into these masters programs or would i need to take alot of background classes before I'd be taking classes that counted toward my masters?

Would I be better off just doing a masters in mech and then trying to enter into one of these industries after?

Also what are the job prospects for people with masters in these areas?
thanks in advance
