Materials and selection for AP Bio + psych exams

Hello everyone,

Now is the time of year for me to buy some books so I would get a reduced shipping fee, therefore, what I thought was to post here and ask everyone’s opinion.

At my school we do not have any APs offered. However, most of Europe do not accept the SAT only and they require 3 APs or in combination with an equivalent. I already secured an A-level, however I have to take 2 APs alongside.

I am much into psychology and biology, I already got a 98% on my regular biology class, but also I did the same in chem so I am thinking about AP Chem with AP Bio. Moreover, people tell me to drop psych or biology and take AP World History since it is memorization only and you that would get you an automatic 5. Like, instead of memorizing biology, just memorize World History, because no conceptual understanding is required as in bio, besides AP Bio is one of the hardest exams.

Therefore, what do you guys think about this case? (Keep in mind that my school may not offer AP, they only said they may have AP Bio class) -I dont want to overkill myself studying because I still have school work too.

The other thing is that the material to prepare for the exam is way overwhelming, too many prep books and too many textbooks. If my school chooses not to offer any AP classes, I would need a textbook (because I need material) and a prep book (strategy). But over the internet, many people never mentioned a textbook for psychology even though I have no prior knowledge, just a barrons AP Psychology and that will get me a 5, how true is that? Also for bio, everyone says campbell is an overkill and also only to use Barrons AP Bio in combination with 5 steps to a 5. Is that enough, without a textbook? To self study them at home, because I am aiming for a 5.

Not sure what your asking exactly? For biology I recommend Pearson test prep to use as a review/ prep book

I am good at Biology, and 2 APs are a must for me to skip the foundation year. So I picked Bio and Psych, are they doable to self-study ?(I have until May 2019) to take the exams If not, is World History easier since its memorization based?

For Psychology, no one said a textbook is needed through self study, only Barrons/PR and 5 steps to a 5 is enough, is it true?

I think you should go with world history, because I am actually in both world history and biology right now and I would say world history is MUCH easier than biology.

I have also heard from multiple sources that you only need a Barron’s book to get a 5 on psychology, although myer’s might be helpful as a supplementary resource.

So I guess my suggestion to you is to do AP World History and AP Psychology. Good luck!
