Any perspectives on the two? I just applied for both at UW and I have a 3.94 GPA so I'm pretty sure Ill get into both, but if I do I'm not sure which to actually go for. I know many of the jobs overlap ex: Process Engineer, but I have heard Chemical Engineering is a more challenging major. It doesn't concern me though. I have planned on being a Chemical Engineer for years now. Any information on the two would be appreciated.

One thing to consider is your long-term objective. If you plan to go to industry right after you graduate, then take a look at job postings at indeed.com or elsewhere, search for these two majors, and compare the companies and job descriptions to see what seems the most interesting to you. In general, you will find many opportunities in industry with a ChemE BS degree, but MSE is still more research-related, so you may benefit from a higher degree with that major. On the other hand, ChemE is a perfectly good foundation for a PhD in either ChemE or MSE should you decide to pursue a research track.

Also, look carefully at the graduation requirements for both majors as well as the other courses listed for both majors, both undergrad and grad, to see which seem more interesting. And look at the kinds of research going on at UW in both departments – you will actually see some overlap between the two, but still, this will give you further insights into the distinction.

You could also look at the [Engineering Majors - College Confidential](Engineering Majors - College Confidential Forums) forum here on CC, as there has been much discussion of your question there.

The main point is to follow your passion and if you do, you will do just fine either way.
