math 136?

Hello,

I'm a member of the class of 2015, and in all of my anxiety over fulfilling requirements for gen ed and concentrations, I decided to try to make a 4-year plan. I currently plan to have a primary concentration in physics, but I want a joint concentration with mathematics as well, and the requirement to have a course at the 130-139 level is baffling me. As it stands, my proposed series of math courses is this: math 1b (my school only went as high as Calc AB), math 21a, math 21b, math 101, math 112, and math 121 with an empty slot for the 130-level course. Math 136 caught my eye, but the prereq only said "advanced calculus and linear algebra," and I'm not entirely sure to which courses that refers. Would I be well-enough prepared with the series I have in mind?

Thank you for your time,

People’s four year plans tend to change as they start taking classes in college and are exposed to new subjects :). I wish I can tell you more, but I’m not a math major or know enough about the department course sequence to give you a helpful answer, and can’t think of anyone on CC who can. This is something that you should discuss with your advisers come September, and with upperclassmen concentrating in math and physics.
